Christ Gives Rest to the heavy laden

Before I accepted Christ, I was always worried about issues in my life, worrying about the past, the present and about tomorrow. Not too long ago, I was on messenger, and a friend of mine asked me if I am now a Christian. I replied “Yes, Christ is Lord”. Then my friend responded, “hmmm, is there something else?”. After which I responded with:
“What do you mean? Christ is Lord and I have accepted Him as my Saviour. I want to go to heaven and I’ll only get there by believing and following His laws.”
Maybe a bit bland, but that’s how I feel. My friend however, thought I was offended by his question, and said he asked me because he wanted to know if there was something on my mind. I responded that I am not at all offended and feel great. I then asked him why he thought I’d have something on my mind. He said: “I dunno, you don’t seem yourself.” WOW! That’s great because at a recent Christian conference that I attended, one of the speakers stated that when someone is filled with the Holy Spirit, they will not be recognized by their fellow mates! How true is her statement. Anyone whom truly seeks Christ will receive his promise of peace. Matthew 11:28 “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Are you tired and always concerned about the past/present/future? Let Christ ease your heart. Accept Him today.

Now as I write this post, the song “Trading Sorrows” started to play, absolutely perfect for the message of this post.

I’m trading my sorrow
I’m trading my shame
I’m laying it down for the joy of the Lord
I’m trading my sickness
I’m trading my pain
I’m laying it down for the joy of the Lord

Chorus:
And we say yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Yes Lord yes Lord yes yes Lord
Amen

I’m pressed but not crushed persecuted not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
I’m blessed beyond the curse for His promise will endure
And His joy’s gonna be my strength
Though the sorrow may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning
